   Research Interests:

Our laboratory is interested in the molecular genetics of early vertebrate embryogenesis, particularly in
the development of the nervous system.  We employ the amphibian Xenopus as the model organism for our
          research.  Specific research interests include:

  • Specification and patterning of the early nervous system
  • Mechanisms underlying the plasticity of the developing nervous system
  • Determination of GABAergic and glutamatergic neural phenotypes
  • The role of hypoxia in neural and vascular development
  • In vivo imaging in small animals (collaborative project)
